Anderson .Paak is making a strong case for artist of the year with his debut LP Malibu, but some seem to forget that NxWorries was where we heard him first. NxWorries is the collaborative effort between .Paak and producer, Knxwledge. You can definitely make the argument that Knxwledge is one of the best producers out, boasting a discography of more than 70 releasesand also locking down a placement on Kendrick Lamar’s sophomore effort, To Pimp A Butterfly. His beats, fueled with samples and lo-fi, vintage sounds, gives .Paak the perfect soundscape.

The two have released their debut LP Yes Lawd! If you’re hip, you know they dropped this on Apple Music last week, but now you can stream/purchase the release on Bandcamp. You’ll have my review of the project soon. If you’re looking for a bit of insight beforehand, it definitely has the old school R&B vibes. It whisked me back to the days of cleaning the house on Saturdays while my mom played Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye and more. It’s definitely of that ilk, and I think NxWorries provided the foundation with their Link Up/Suede EP to smoothly transition the listener into a more actualized and focused effort. You can stream the singles for YES LAWD! below.
