Despite not making it to the NBA finals, Kevin Durant is still one of the most sought after players in the league. Durant’s talent has made him a hot commodity, one in which teams will be clamoring for. On July 1st Kevin Durant will become an unrestricted free agent, which means teams can start legally engaging with him. Two teams who are expected to go after Durant with nothing short of everything are the Wizards and Spurs. The Wizards have already started making strategic moves to lure Durant back to his hometown. They also hired former Thunder Head Coach, Scott Brooks.

With teams expected to pull out all the stops to get Durant, the governor of Oklahoma decided she would try her hand at keeping him with the Thunder. During the Oklahoma Press Association’s annual convention, Governor Mary Fallin told the audience: “If Kevin Durant thinks about leaving, which I hope he doesn’t – Oklahoma loves Kevin Durant, and Kevin Durant loves Oklahoma. But if he’ll stay, I’ll make him a Cabinet person for health and fitness on my Cabinet.”

Although this offer doesn’t pay as much as a position with the Wizards would, Governor Fallin gave it a good try. For the sake of Thunder fans, one can only hope this offer shows Kevin how loved he is in Oklahoma and convince him to stay. But for those of us who are Wizards fans, Kevin Durant it’s time for you to come back home.
