Jay Z is a business, man — not a businessman. Kanye West has always presented himself as a person who puts the art first. With that said, it should come as no surprise to anyone that at his recent ‘Pablo’ tour stop in Seattle, Mr. West decided to pop off on the Roc Nation capo.
It’s not complicated at all — Jay Z likes his money firmly in his pockets, and he couldn’t get square with letting the rest of us have it on “Pop Style,” with Drake being in Apple’s camp, plus him owning Tidal and all. Finally, at least we’ve got an answer as to why Jay Z’s verse on “Pop Style” was a short walk into a shallow pool.

But what’s really eating Kanye apparently, is that Jay’s been being Jay Z. The personal and the professional tend to move in unison for Ye, and, according to him, Jigga Man’s been worrying about respect for his label instead of about the music. “Out of respect for Meek Mill he didn’t want to be on the track,” Kanye stated. “I said, look, I’ll call Drake, I’ll call Meek, we gotta squash this sh*t, we gotta let people have this song!” That’s not all. According to Kanye, Jay has been putting off Watch The Throne 2 over “some Apple/Tidal bullsh*t.”

There’s something really endearing about Yeezy’s love of his art. He literally doesn’t care how many people are on a song or an album as long as he gets it right. Inevitably then, these two bump heads, especially when Jay is getting his by-any-means on. “It went into some political shit, some shit about percentages on songs,” Ye reasoned. This seems so Jay Z, it isn’t even funny. He’s got control of his masters for a reason, y’all.
But wait, there’s more. Kanye West is just trying to hang out with this big homie man to man, but Jay’s been preoccupied. West even said that their kids haven’t even played with each other yet, “I can’t take this sh*t, bro, our kids ain’t never even played together.”
