Anyone familiar with Aziz Ansari’s Master of None might recognize Lena Waithe as the witty, self-assured confidante of Dev (Ansari’s character). In real life, the writer and actress is much more, including being one of the newest talent additions to entertainment powerhouse, William Morris Endeavor.

Though new to WME’s roster, Waithe is well-acquainted with Hollywood and in the public eye.

Having written and executive produced pilots for Showtime and BET, written for Fox’s Bones, and produced Dear White People, it’s no wonder that we’re keeping our eye on Waithe.

Of her newest pilot, Twenties, Waithe told Vogue:

I had this script that was these three black girls, all 20-somethings, all living in Los Angeles. And people really responded to it. It got a ton of attention. It was a thinly veiled version of my life. But everybody was afraid to bite.

Well, we’re interested.

More recently, Waithe is said to be working alongside television producer Jenni Konner to write “Girls” creator Lena Dunham’s book. Ahem, #blackgirlmagic.
