President Obama wants future high school graduates to have a competitive edge in the workforce and the global economy.

“Today’s auto mechanics aren’t just sliding under cars to change the oil. They’re working on machines that run on as many as 100 million lines of code,” said President Obama.

In his weekly address, the President discussed plans for Computer Science for All, an initiative to provide advanced educational tools in K-12 schools. He’s calling on Congress to include these efforts in the 2017 federal budget. This particular plan would require $4 billion for U.S. schools to teach computer science. The White House is expected to send the request to Congress on February 9th.
