After dominating the sport of tennis for years and years, Venus and Serena Williams continue to assert their dominance on game. They’ve racked up Olympic gold and Wimbledon grand slams, while slaying everything in between. The sisters, who have long been active philanthropists, lending their influence and financial support to a number of causes, are now establishing the Williams Sister Fund, and opening the Yetunde Price Resource Center in their hometown of Compton, California. Named after their eldest sister who was killed in a drive by shooting in 2003, the center will connect individuals impacted by violence with the services available to them.

The Williams’ sisters, who will be honored at the 2016 Healthy Compton Community Festival on Saturday, November 12 with two refurbished tennis courts dedicated in their honor, said in a joint statement, “We are so excited to return to Compton for Mayor Aja Brown’s Healthy Compton Community Festival. Compton will always be our home and we can’t wait to spend the day with the community at this inspiring event. Mayor Brown said, “This is an incredible investment and commitment by Serena and Venus Williams, and I commend them for their desire to help children and families in Compton thrive. The resource center will be able to map all of the resources in and around the Compton community while providing customized assistance that will be a vital asset to improving our ability to service our youth, adults and families.”

Venus and Serena Williams have been inspiring excellence for over a decade. We salute them for using their fame and talents to make a difference in their community.
